A victorious third win at Giro D’Italia

CSM has supported UAE Team Emirates since 2017 – handling all their communications in the Gulf Cooperation Council, establishing the cycling team’s brand in the region and growing the sport across the UAE. This coincided with UAE Team Emirates’ journey to becoming the #1 UCI World Tour Team.

In May, UAE Team Emirates secured another historic victory at the 2024 Giro D’Italia, rolling into the eternal city of Rome, shoulder to shoulder, with Slovenian Superstar Tadej Pogacar sporting the Maglia Rosa Pink Winners jersey.

Heading into the first Grand Tour race of the 2024 season, UAE Team Emirates and Tadej Pogacar were the favourites for overall victory in the General Classification after a record-breaking start to the season…but no one expected the ultimate margin of victory.

Pogacar, UAE Team Emirates’ talisman, won a mind-boggling 6 stages, finishing on the podium three times, spending 20 days in the Pink Jersey, and ultimately winning the race by 9mins 56 seconds over his closest rival! This was the largest winning margin at any of Cycling’s Grand Tours since 1965.

The last man to take six stages and overall victory at the Giro D’Italia was Eddy Merckx back in 1973, the only rider with a resume comparable with that of Pogacar’s in the history of the sport. The two greats stand alone on Cycling’s Mount Rushmore…and Pogacar is not done yet.

As the procession began for the final stage of the race in Rome, there was an overwhelming feeling from those watching on that we’ve all just had the privilege of witnessing Cycling mastery from the stand-out rider not only of this season, but certainly of our generation, and arguably in the history of the sport.

Next up for UAE Team Emirates and Tadej Pogacar is the famous Tour de France, kicking off on Saturday 29 June, with Pogacar looking to become the first man to do the Giro D’Italia x Tour de France double since Marco Pantani in 1998. Once again, we will be there every step of the way, ensuring the team’s progress is felt far and wide.
