Providing a platform for Women’s Sports

On the 6th of June, the inaugural Women in Sport conference, organised in partnership between WiMENA (Women in the Middle East & North Africa) and the Arab British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC, was held at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge Football Stadium. Leading the way to empowerment, the conference provides an exciting new platform for highlighting the growing opportunities for women in sport as participants, investors and entrepreneurs. This year, global marketing and management business, Wasserman were proud sponsors of the one-day event.

The sponsorship of Wasserman gave the conference a significant boost and indicated the increasingly important role played by women in sport in the MENA region. Wasserman has a long history of promoting gender equality and championing women’s sport, led by the work of The Collective, Wasserman’s dedicated practice that exists to advance the power of women in sport, music, entertainment and culture.

The event hosted serveral panel discussions that focused on key topics such as talent development, widening access for women, sporting role models, technology in sport and sports tourism. A special country-focused panel discussed the growth of the sports sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under its Vision 2030, in which CSM’s very own Managing Director, Middle East, Ben Faber took to the stage to share his insights. Wasserman’s The Collective’s Executive Vice President, Thayer Lavielle also took to the stage to discuss the importance of education, opportunities and grassroots programmes available to women and girls to encourage more women in sports.
