Putting on a masterclass with AIA Singapore & Spurs
It was nothing short of fantastic to see football return to Singapore after a long break.
Across an incredible weekend, we assisted AIA Singapore in organizing its AIA Kids Football Clinics at Singapore’s Jalan Besar Stadium on 12 and 13 November 2022 after a two-year hiatus, alongside Tottenham Hotspur and the Football Association of Singapore. All proceeds from the clinics went to the AIA Better Lives Fund, which helps AIA reach out to even more children and families in need in Singapore.
It was an unbelievable response as we saw all four sessions filled a short while after the invite went out. With the support of Tottenham Hotspur Global Development Football Coaches Shannon Moloney and Jerome Baker, and the Football Association of Singapore coaches, we engaged 500 kids from 5-14 across the camps.
Aside from organizing the sessions – catering for varying levels of ability for the different age groups – we even worked as emcees to hype the crowd up! Not that they needed it with all the energy the kids brought to the stadium. And were thrilled and honored to have one extraordinary girl with cerebral palsy join us – playing with a smile and demonstrating to us that limitations are truly only self-imposed.
The team also arranged for kid-sized kits and goodie bags for all participants, so everyone went home with great memories in mind and gifts in hand. Before they left, parents and kids also received a delicious and healthy post-event lunch bento; perfect after a day of hard work and exercise.
Lastly, with the coaches’ assistance, about 20 kids were selected for an exclusive AIA x Tottenham Hotspur Elite Camp next year after showing hard work, skill, and grit. We cannot wait to see them again when we host the Elite Camp. It was undoubtedly a meaningful and memorable weekend for kids, parents, AIA and our team. Onward to the next one!
