Get to Know Carson: Account Manager, Brands

Describe your career in five words.

Teamwork makes the dream work!

Tell us a little bit more about what you do and some of the most extraordinary projects you’ve been part of in the past year?

I sit on the Brands team in New York. I work with Citi on all of their year-round para sport and para athlete partnerships. The project I have recently found myself bragging about most often is activating Citi’s title sponsorship of the Women’s World Challenge. This past August, the event was the first ever Women’s Para Ice Hockey event sanctioned by the World Para Ice Hockey Federation. This sport is currently not included in the Paralympic Games for women – so Citi is trying to help bridge the gap to have the sport included in the Games within the next few cycles. The Beijing Winter Paralympic Games last year were pretty cool too – and most recently, I also helped out the Verizon account on the ground at the Super Bowl in Arizona.

You were selected as a mentee on this year’s CSM Mentoring Challenge program that we run in partnership with Sports Business Journal, congratulations! What was it that made you want to apply for the program and what has been your highlight so far?

Thank you! It has really been an honor to participate in this program. I wanted to apply for a number of reasons – mainly to increase the scope of my industry network and to be able to bounce ideas off of someone not on my everyday team. I have really enjoyed connecting with the other mentees in the program – something I didn’t think much about when originally applying!

Looking ahead, how do you think your experience on the Mentoring Challenge program will help shape your future career?

Gaining perspective and growing perseverance. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to connect with women from all over the industry through the program. When asking the mentors a question during our events, each comes with a different way to problem solve based on their backgrounds. Additionally, all are incredible women who have helped pave the way for younger generations to thrive in this industry. I am very lucky to be able to have the opportunity to learn and grow from them.

When not at work, what would we find you doing?

Watching any and all New York sports, going for a run, relaxing on a beach, or being a reality TV connoisseur.
