Hear from a few of our recent interns
From July 11th – August 18th, our New York office had the pleasure of hosting part-time interns from the City University of New York (CUNY). CUNY is a network of colleges and universities local to the NY area who provide affordable higher education. Hear what a few of them had to say about their experiences below.

What attracted you to this internship?
When I was first looking into the internship positions that CUNY had to offer I researched every company to see what they do. I specifically am majoring in marketing and wanted to intern in a marketing consultant company. What stood out when I was doing my research was the CSM website and all the work that has been done. Also, I am very interested in beauty specifically and the department stood out to me on the application.

What attracted me to this internship was the opportunity to learn new skills and gain work experience to boost my resume. In addition, I love sports so I thought CSM would be a fun experience to intern at.

What attracted you to this internship?
I wanted an internship that would allow me to learn more about HR and this was the perfect fit for me. I had other options but I decided to stick to CSM because of their promise on diversity and their willingness to help local businesses. Their project with Snowfall and helping a local black-business is what helped finalise my decision to pick CSM.
What was your favourite experience as an intern?
Having fun conversations with the team. Sometimes it would be random like asking “what’s a superstition they believe in”, talking about favourite foods, or even crocheting.
What are some of your key takeaways?
Prioritise work-life balance (create boundaries and limit overlap between them). Figure out your work core-values and stick to them (It will help when deciding on a role or company)

What attracted you to this internship?
Working with different brands and really being involved in the marketing experience our team would provide for them really attracted me. I liked how I would be actively contributing and participating in project tasks as well.
What was your favourite experience as an intern?
I like how I was given ownership of some things, like my team needed to source an ice cream push cart for our client and my job was to go through fabricators and vendors I could find to help bring it to life. Another one I liked was when I was given a brief to go through for a brand the team plans to work with and come up with cool activation ideas to add to it.
What are some of your key takeaways?
Be as transparent as possible. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind, especially when it comes to your workload. Working at an agency can be busy at times but the team is very supportive and won’t hesitate to help out.
Eric Romero
What attracted you to this internship?
At first, the name attracted me most. This was one of the few if not the only sports and entertainment related opportunities in the CUNY program. As I looked into it further, the company was involved in so many things I was interested in, and so much more that I was not expecting. CSM is a big name in this space and I was so happy to even be considered.
What was your favourite experience as an intern?
My favourite experience was being treated like I was a part of the team. I was kept in the loop about everything and got to see a lot of goals and deadlines be completed.
What are some of your key takeaways?
I took away new knowledge about how workforces and teams work in general. This was my first office related, real-world job, and it was interesting and valuable to see how these companies operate. It was a good experience to see how work was delegated and divided up within a team to complete a project by a certain deadline.
