Bringing the joy of summer to New York’s streets
We were honoured to partner with the NYC Department of Transportation for the 12th year of their Summer Streets initiative. This annual celebration, which is the largest participatory event in the United States with over 300,000+ people per event, encourages New Yorkers to take back the city’s most valuable public spaces: their streets. With miles of NYC streets closed to vehicular traffic for people to play, run, walk, and bike, Summer Streets provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation.
The event took place every Saturday from July 29th through August 26th between 7am and 1pm. We were responsible for the partnership sales, production, logistics, permitting, signage, staffing, on-site route management, programming, and rest stop management.
This year we were also able to help expand Summer Streets into all five NYC boroughs covering nearly 20 miles, as well as the expanded Manhattan route allowing us to bring this event into the heart of Harlem. Each of the five routes had multiple themed rest stops to encourage participants to further engage with local programs and community activities.
