Discovering new greens: the second chapter begins
For the second consecutive year, Production is back on the road with Stephen Curry’s Underrated Golf Tour, presented this year by new title sponsor KPMG. The team is responsible for all tour elements including player and family travel and transportation, course branding and creative, and all tournament operations. This year’s tour began in West Palm Beach, Florida at the newly opened “The Park” Golf Club before heading to the historic Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio to begin the month of July.
The purpose-driven endeavor, committed to providing the tour’s three main pillars of equity, access, and opportunity to student-athletes in every community by balancing participation in golf to truly reflect society, the Underrated Tour will head to Las Vegas’ Paiute Resort later in July and Tacoma, Washington’s Chambers Bay, site of the 2015 U.S. Open Championship, in early August. The event will conclude with Underrated’s version of the TOUR Championship, The Curry Cup, held this year at San Francisco’s Lake Merced Golf Club.
As the tour has grown from 60 to 96 student athletes from ages 12-18 in year two, so has our own involvement. At the first stop, it was a star studded affair, as NBA Player (and Stephen Curry’s younger brother) Seth Curry and Grammy-winning hip-hop musician DJ Khaled both made surprise appearances. During stop two at Firestone, Akron-born Stephen Curry himself made an appearance to accept the Club’s 2023 Ambassador of Golf Award.
“The team at CSM has been an extremely important and instrumental part of the success here on the Underrated Golf Tour,” said Jason Richards, Athletic Director for SC30 Inc. and the Underrated Tour. “Their professionalism, punctuality, and overall operation is one of the main reasons the Underrated Golf Tour has been such a huge success going into Season 2. This partnership between CSM and Underrated Golf is a partnership we are extremely lucky to have and one that will continue to grow into the future.”
