Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018
Rugby International Marketing (RIM) of USA Rugby tasked us with to spearheading all commercial partnership sales for the first Rugby World Cup ever hosted on United States soil – Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 in San Francisco.
What we did
We isolated a list of potential clients in the United States that would be interested in increasing their global footprint and global clients that would be interested in scaling in the United States.
Through strategic planning and our expertise, we sold out the entire commercial platform for the Rugby World Cup securing five global partners, five domestic partners, and a handful of regional/specialty partners.
The results
We oversaw a successful commercial execution of the first Rugby World Cup in the United States. Our efforts generated over US $4M in sponsorship revenue tied to the event.
We brought on partners including AIG, DHL, Budweiser, Air New Zealand, Tudor, US Marine Corps, Blass Wine, to name a few.
The Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 was a fantastic opportunity for CSM to support RIM and World Rugby in bringing this global spectacle to the U.S. for the very first time. Rugby, particularly 7s, remains an exciting and fast-growing sport stateside with tremendous following/participation at the grassroots/college levels. We’re proud to have played a role in executing the tournament and securing a roster of partners including brands with a history of aligning with rugby as well as several new-comers to the space. The event was a milestone on the continued upward trajectory of the sport in the U.S.
